Have you been to Yellowstone? It is seriously one of my favorite places! I have been twice now and each time it has been so different and full of new adventure! I can’t wait to share with you our favorite Yellowstone activities!

What to do in West Yellowstone:

So with Yellowstone there are so many different park entrances and we have tried out a few of them & I have to say that I love West Yellowstone. The town is actually called West Yellowstone, Montana. It was my first time to Montana & I was honestly blown away! It is so BEAUTIFUL! I loved West Yellowstone because it is right at the park gate. A lot of or all of the other entrances you have to drive far from town to get to the park & where we stayed was literally a mile if that from the park entrance. I also loved West Yellowstone & all the fun events that were happening. They have a rodeo in town that goes almost every night & there was a fun car show while we were there too. I have to also suggest going to the Taco Bus that is right on the Main Street- it is called Las Palmitas & it is so good & fun!

We took a day trip to Bozeman from West Yellowstone & that is where I was blown away with the beauty. Driving through Big Sky was so picturesque with the river along side you as people fly fish & rafted. Bozeman was so cute! I had heard the Main Street Downtown area was cute but I think it is my favorite Main Street I have ever been to! The stores were so fun & there were so many amazing restaurants. The downtown area is also quite large & had so many fun neon signs. It was actually kinda hard to find a touristy souvenir shop which I liked because all the stores were cute & I bought some fun non cheesy souvenirs.

Where to stay:

I loved where we stayed- it was so convenient and nice! It is called Hibernation Station & it is right in the middle of everything! I loved that we were in town but there was also nothing behind the resort so it was so fun to be able to look into the woods & look for animals.

Hibernation Station has everything you will need & more! The hot tub was a big hit as well as the hot chocolate you can get in the office all day. Beck loved the fun playground they had! It was really nice to have a laundry room as well. I love the rustic cabin feel but how clean & comfy the cabins were. I slept so good on the bed I kinda wanted to take the mattress home haha. It was also really great to have a full sized kitchen. We brought a lot of food with us so we could have picnics in the park so it was great to have a fridge to use.

Hibernation Station also has smaller cabins without kitchens if you don’t need that extra space. It was so nice to unplug & relax but I will say that they have the best tv channels haha. We don’t have tv at home so it is nice when we go to a hotel to have that little treat & they seriously had every channel you could think of! The grounds of Hibernation Station are also beautiful- Beck loved looking our the window at the big waterfall. Stay at Hibernation Station & you will have an amazing cabin feel with all the great amenities.

What to do in the park:

We saw so many animals this trip! However we didn’t see any animals hardly when we were on the main roads that went to really touristy things like Old Faithful. If you want to see animals go to Hayden Valley or Lamar Valley. We saw hundreds of bison which I just think are amazing & so cute. We also saw a bald eagle, lots of elk & some BEARS! I have always wanted to see a bear in the wild & one of them had 3 cubs with her- it was so cool!

I love Grand Prismatic Spring- the colors are unreal! We went in the morning this time so there was a lot of steam so it was hard to see how blue it is. If you pass the parking lot and keep going there is another parking lot where you can park & hike up above to get an aerial shot. I would go in the afternoon though so there isn’t too much steam.

Yellowstone also has some really fun lodges where you can eat. We also went through Grand Teton National Park & my favorite gift shop of the trip was the one at Colter Bay. Grand Teton is close by, beautiful huge mountains, & we loved spending time at the beach there.

Other fun along the way-

We drove up through Idaho on the way to West Yellowstone & we had a lot of fun stops along the way. One of the fun places we stopped was the Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot, Idaho. Oh my goodness haha Beck loved it! There is this part where potatoes are on a couch & signing this song where it says potato potato potato & Beck still a week later sings & dancing to the song- it is so funny!

We also stopped in Preston, Idaho to see some Napoleon Dynamite things such as Napoleon’s house which has a sign in the yard about it haha. If you are ever in Northern Utah go to some of the fun factories in Logan, they are our favorite! We love the Gossner factory. where you can get cheese, ice cream & the best flavored milk boxes that don’t need to be refrigerated. There is a creamie factory and our favorite the Pepperidge factory which is actually in Richmond so basically on the Idaho border. You can get bulk goldfish, milanos & more for cheap!
