christmas book tradition

Looking for a fun new tradition this holiday season? I got you!! We started this tradition last year and have been looking forward to it ever since. I love traditions and it has been so fun to start traditions to spread the Christmas magic. My four year old is getting so into it all and I am loving it! So is he! In my opinion this really is the best Christmas book tradition!

Over the years I have been searching for the best holiday season books! I have narrowed it down, searched around and here are my favorite Christmas books. So I use the same books every year, so I don’t buy new ones each year just use the same ones. I think that makes it special too because they are books that become favorites.

So before December 1st- I wrap the 24 books and put them under the tree. Then from December 1st to December 24th we open a book each night. My son picks whichever one he wants. We read it together cuddled up by the Christmas tree and it is magic! Growing up my family always opened pajamas on Christmas Eve but I decided this year t0 open them on December 1st to kick off the season. It was really fun and festive. I bought my boys matching pajamas I found a great deal on! If you aren’t in my deals Facebook group– come join the fun! Giveaways, deals etc!

Here are some of my favorite books that I love reading year after year! Did I miss any of your favorites? Please comment below. I tried to pick ones with great messages and really pretty illustrations- I am reallly picky on that since I love to display them after opened.

The Wish Tree is so pretty. A fun woodland story with cute animals etc. When Santa Was a Baby is a unique story line that is so fun! Of course you have to included How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Not only do I love reading this book but I also love the movies and so does my son.

The Great Spruce is a cute one about a boy that loves to climb trees especially big spruce trees. Samurai Santa is so cute- a boy wants a snowball fight for Christmas and Santa gets involved. The Little Reindeer is a sweet story with really sweet illustrations.

Turkey Claus is a fun mix between the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas! How to Catch an Elf is one of the how to catch books and is fun to reading about elves- my son is obsessed with the idea haha.

Red & Lulu might be my favorite pick. The story is so clever. It is about carinal birds that end up living in the Rockefeller tree. It shares the history of the tree etc and is so great!

First Snow is a simple book about how magical snow is! Pick a Pine Tree is about finding that perfect tree! Soooo cute too.

Last Stop on the Reindeer Express is about a cute girl that wants to send a letter to her grandpa for christmas. It is bright and fun and fun cut out on the front!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland is the classic song that is illustrated so beautifully and makes you want to sing the whole time haha. Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree is about a rich man trying to find the perfect tree for his house and it is really cute!

The Tale of Three Trees is a somewhat religious book that makes me tear up. Talking about worth and the birth of christ- highly recommend. Silent Night is another one that makes me tear up. And the illustrations are sooooo stunning.

The Day Santa Stopped Believing in Harold is so funny. A funny take on Santa not believing in a kid instead of the other way around.

The Twelve Days of Christmas there are a lot of versions of this classic book. But I love this one- it has fun cut outs that go through to the next page. It is a classic book to have in the best Christmas book tradition!

Home Alone is a fun add in because my son loves this movie so it has become one of his favorites books this year haha. Santa Claus the World’s Number One Toy Expert talks about Santa’s workshop and all the magic there.

White Snow Bright Snow is an older classic that leaves you feeling warm. The Night Before Christmas is a classic and I really like this illustrated version! A Dot in the Snow is a fun one that isn’t christmasy but about winter!

Little Red Sleigh and the Tree That’s Meant to Be are new ones I want to grab. The Tree That’s Meant to Be is about finding that perfect tree and why some aren’t perfect etc. Little Red Sleigh just released and has been really popular- it almost looks like a cute 90’s vintage book.
