Hi friends! How is your 2019?! I am trying to get back into the swing of things after the holidays and am having such a hard time! I haven’t even written out my resolutions yet but I have been thinking a lot about them. I have never been a big oil person but I think it is because I never have known what to do with them. I have been loving these oils we got from Plant Therapy & am excited to share how we have been using them around our home.
I am excited to share fun 3 DIY home uses for these essential oils. But first I want to talk about using a diffuser. I love the look of this rose gold diffuser! I love that it can also look like home decor but serves a purpose. I loved getting this pack because it comes with some great oils to get you started.
There are a lot of fun holiday related DIY crafts using essential oils. For next year I would love to make some scented wood slice ornaments. I also love the idea of putting oils in big pinecones with your holiday decor. This Balsam Fir scented oil is amazing! It has a beautiful pine smell but not manly or too strong. I have loved diffusing all season. Now let’s get into the fun DIY project! I love using Plant Therapy oils because you get such a good value for the quality of oil.
SHOWER MELTS
I love these things! They make your shower so relaxing & smell amazing! They are easy to make & you can add the oils in right away or you can make plain ones and add some drops of oils on top before the shower.
The recipe is 1 cup baking soda , 1/4 cup distilled water, and 20 drops essential oil. Sometimes you might need to add a little more water but start with this.
I think the really fun part is choosing which shape of silicone molds you want to make and which essential oil blends to use! I think that shower steamers make the best gifts too especially if you use a fun shaped silicone mold!
To get started put baking soda in mixing bowl. Then add water and you can add more if you need but you still want it to be pretty thick. Add the drops of essential oils & keep mixing. Then put the mixture into your silicone molds- press it pretty well. Let them dry overnight- you can even bake them in the over for a little at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
When you go to take a shower place a steamer right on the floor of the shower or a shelf where water will hit it. The heat & water will dissolve the melt & the smell will be amazing! I am so doing this next time I get sick because a warm shower smells amazing & then the essential oils will work wonders too.
Store your shower melts in a airtight container such as a tupperware.
ESSENTIAL OIL BATH SALTS
1 cup Epsom Salt
1/4 cup Baking Soda
1/4 cup Sea Salt
10 drops essential oil
I love taking baths so these have been amazing! I just mix them up & keep them in an tupperware just like my shower melts.
SCENTED DRYER BALLS
Have you ever used wool dryer balls? I love them! In the past I have bought them at local stores & boutiques & they are kinda pricey. But I found a pack of 2 at Walmart the other day for a little under $5.
I just add some drops on these wool balls & throw them in with my clothes in the dryer. They keep my clothes smelling so fresh! I can usually dry them maybe 5 times & then I add a few more drops of essential oils to them.
What fun things do you do around the house with your essential oils? I am so excited to keep finding uses for these amazing oils around my house & especially in holiday decor next year.
Thanks to Plant Therapy for working with me on this post- all opinions are my own.
