Shark Party Theme

We had the most jaw-some and fin-tastic day celebrating Beck! So Beck’s birthday is actually in April but thanks to COVID we decided to put off his party. It worked out well because Beck had been wanting a shark party theme and a pool party and April is a little cold for that. It ended up being the perfect day- sooo hot! Beck was so funny- he was like “Am I 5 now?” And I don’t blame him haha it is a little confusing having a birthday and then another one 3 months later! I wondered if I should even throw him a party since it is months later but he loved it and so did I! Life is too short to not party!

The shark party theme was such a blast! It worked so well with a pool party. I think I want to do a pool party every year haha it was so nice to not have to plan any games or entertainment. Just let the kids go crazy in the pool!

I found this balloon pack on Amazon! It is sooo cheap for what you get. The pack came with 3 large mylar shark balloons, all of these blue and white balloons and the string and balloon letters that spell shark attack! It was such a cheap and easy way to make a party background.

Making this balloon arch was so fun! I didn’t want it to be a full arch but more like a “wave.” I found the best thing on Amazon that made it so easy! I grabbed this balloon strip and got to work. All I had to do was blow up the balloons and slide them onto this. It came in a 2 pack so I will be able to use it again for another party! Check out the reviews and see for yourself. I love the impact it makes and think I will use it at every party!

The Baked Goods!

This cake was the HIT of the party! Everybody kept talking about it! It is from The Chocolate! It is seriously my favorite bakery! I have been going there since high school. If you go into the store I love their cazookies! You get a gooey cookie- you choose between some flavors of cookie dough and then it is cooked and while hot topped with ice cream! Such a gooey treat. I love going to The Chocolate for my birthday and picking that!

What is so fun about The Chocolate is that it is a dessert cafe! Both locations are in cute old houses that are filled with couches, cute coves and areas to sit and chat! I have hosted multiple little bachelorette parties here as well as date nights. For Valentine’s Day they do cake by candlelight and Eric and I love going! There is a location in Orem, UT and West Jordan, UT!

So basically as you can tell- I love The Chocolate! Not only is it such a fun atmosphere but it is SO YUMMY! You can order with The Chocolate online and they always help my dreams come to life! The Chocolate knocked this shark cake out of the park! It was a delicious chocolate coconut flavor with the most perfect buttercream. It completed the shark party theme!

I also loved how the shark sugar cookies turned out. I am picky about sugar cookies and The Chocolate’s are amazing! Those mini cupcakes with the shark fin toppers were such a hit too and perfect for kids.

For the shark cake the shark topper was made from this hand puppet. It was genius! It became a toy in the end and it wasn’t made of gross fondant!

On that long charcuterie board are my favorite treat! The Chocolate’s sandwich cookies are amazing! They are like homemade gooey Oreo’s filled with frosting. They are amazing! Head to their store and grab some and thank me later!

I also loved the little blueberry trifle cups! They went perfect with the theme and were so yummy and fun to have something different!

The smaller cake was citrus poppyseed and oh my word! HEAVEN ON EARTH! The flavor is lemon orange poppyseed cake and then the frosting was a citrus cream cheese. SO amazing! I loved the glitter shark cake topper that The Chocolate used as well! Made such an impact!

Here are the links to my favorite platters that I use for every party.

This white oval platter with handles is the best. I love that it has handles and it goes with everything! I searched long and hard for something like this and just love it and use it so often. This white square marble platter is also one of my favorites and I use it for dessert, cheeses etc. And I use this white beaded cake stand that the shark cake it on all the time. I got it when we got married and it is really inexpensive too!

Beck isn’t mad here haha just caught off guard! I loved having ocean water and then also fresh water aka normal water haha!

I love this drink dispenser that is holding the water. It is really high quality and the spout is metal and not the cheesy plastic like so many are. This drink dispenser stand that matches is also great! It makes it so much easier to fill up water when they is space for the cup below.

I love The Chocolate’s brownies! They were so great to work with and dyed the icing blue to match the theme!

How to Make Shark Attack Drinks

What started the whole shark party theme was Beck’s favorite drink. If you are from Utah/Arizona you might know about Swig and be a big fan like we are! Well they have a kid’s drink called a shark attack. It is blue and Beck loves it because it comes with a gummy shark. So I figured since it is one of his favorite things- let’s plan a whole party around it haha! So we made our own version of shark attack drinks and they were a big hit.

Here is what you will need to make a shark attack/ocean water drink!

3/4 sprite to 1/4 lemonade and then mix in coconut syrup and blue curacao syrup! Then I found out how to make them sparkly! I bought this edible glitter that I dumped it and made it glisten. After some trial and error- we found out that the glitter can clump so first mix it with a little bit of water and get it all glittery and then dump it in! A little bit goes a long way! And I am excited to use it for cakes, cupcakes etc in the future!

I bought clear cups with lids and then put these straws through. These straws were by far the cheapest I could find! Then topped the lid with two gummy sharks! The perfect garnish. I ordered the gummy sharks here and it was the best deal I could find. I had a lot of them so I also put a bowl of them on the table. The kids loved them and would eat them by the handful. It was a lot of fun!
