Magical Sunflower Field Pictures

I can’t wait to share with you this magical new Utah experience we did this weekend as a family. My husband and I are both from Utah and feel like we have done so many things already. So I always love when we find something new and exciting to do! And taking beautiful sunflower field pictures was a blast!

There is a magical sunflower festival happening at Cross E Ranch! Cross E Ranch is located in Salt Lake City near the airport. We went there in the spring for a baby animal festival that was literally the cutest thing! They also have a fall festival with cider doughnuts and I will definitely be going back for that- sign me up! Here is where you can grab tickets and check out dates and times etc.

When you go to the sunflower festival with every ticket purchased you get to pick and bring home a stem! Then you can buy more if you want. The sunflowers are $2 a stem or $20 for a dozen. I really liked that you could pick and cut whatever variety and they charged you the same way- it made it a lot easier. I brought home a dozen full of different kinds- so bright and cheery.

What to Expect

I would recommend going to the sunflower festival in the morning or evening. I am sure the golden hour sunset there is amazing! We went at around 10:30 and it got pretty hot. When you get there you are able to pick up a bucket with some water and they loan you some cutters. Then out into the field you can go to take all the sunflower field pictures you want! And find some flower souvenirs to bring home as well too!

It is so fun to wander through all the different varieties. Someone working there told me that they have 20 different varieties planted. I had no idea that many varieties existed. It would be fun to go multiple times to the festival because they stagger the kinds planted and when they bloom so that there are always flowers blooming if that makes sense. I could not get over the flowers that were reddish, huge and different colors. It was fun to see how some sunflowers had black centers, some yellow etc.

Sunflower Facts

I feel so dumb saying this but I did not know that sunflowers follow the sun! I mean duh I am sure that is why they are called sunflowers but I have never thought about it. Now I am obsessed with sunflowers the more that I learn about them. These flowers are amazing!

Sunflowers are native to the Americas. There are about 70 different varieties and the largest can grow to 30 feet tall! That literally makes me think of Jack and the Beanstalk! Sunflowers are just a happy flower and sunflower field pictures are just happy and fun! Head to Cross E Ranch to check it out for yourself!

sunflower vase

Look how amazing this vase of sunflowers look on my counter! I still can’t get over how big sunflowers can be. I had no idea. So impressive and beautiful!
