We had the best time last weekend in Washington DC! Have you been? It was my third time but Eric & Beck had never been. I just love that city! I love all the history & how clean it is. Of course I love the charm & all the old buildings. Georgetown is kind of the cutest! We spent 2 days in the city but we spent the other 2 days of our trip adventuring in other areas & we had a blast.
We first decided to head up North to Baltimore because we wanted crabs haha. But we also went to see Fort McHenry where the Star Spangled Banner was written & that was Eric’s favorite part so I am glad we spontaneously did that! I loved exploring the city & loved these colorful houses we stumbled upon. I wish people in Utah were brave with color! We took along this Contours Bitsy Compact Fold Stroller which is available on Amazon! I think I might use this as my everyday stroller not just traveling because it is amazing! It folds so small & there is a handle that makes it so easy to take along! I also love the basket on the bottom so that I can store things for Beck down there. I also love that the stroller reclines & gives Beck so much room. It’s so easy to fold & unfold this stroller- you can do it with one hand! I am excited with our next baby to use this stroller too since it is compatible with 30+ infant seats without adapters- I have never heard of that before- so cool!
Of course we couldn’t go on a trip without seeing some National Parks! I just love that all over the country there are these amazing places that are kept protected. I mean, maybe one day we will visit them all but I am not going to commit to that yet since there are so many haha.
First we headed to Great Falls Park which is a small national park so close to the city it is crazy! I loved how right outside the hustle & bustle of the capital you could find this amazing waterfall! Well the waterfall didn’t look how it normally does since Hurricane Florence brought a ton of rain. The water of the Potomac River was pretty brown & just raging but we had a good time still! Our hearts go out to those that have been effected by all these Natural Disasters that are going on everywhere!
The next National Park we went to was Shenandoah National Park! We had heard so much about this one & were so excited to go! So the day we went it was rainy & so we were in the clouds the whole time- so cool! This park is over 100 miles- where you drive on Skyline Drive & there are tons of places to pull off & hike & admire the view. Well since it was so cloudy when we went you couldn’t even see anything about the lookouts but white- which was still kinda cool. Then we found a really woody area where we took these photos & it was AMAZING!
I was so glad that Toyota let us use this car on this trip. Having a car makes a trip so much more enjoyable for me. I love that I can have my space & don’t have to carry everything with me especially with kids & all they come with. We are in love with this Toyota Highlander– I have a long list of things that made this car so great. Here are a few of them. The Panoramic Sunroof was so cool- especially when we drove through Shenandoah & you could see the trees all around you. I have never drove a car with Blind Spot and Lane Departure Warnings & an Accident Avoidance System- I’m sold! I especially love all these features for the extra safety they provide since I drive around with Beck all the time especially. Parking this car was so easy with the sensors & 360 cameras- so cool to see if you are in the lines from every angle. I loved the storage in the front console as well as the automatic closing trunk- it makes mom life so much easier. Not only does the Highlander have amazing features but it sure is nice inside- I loved the leather seats & that they could be heated & vented. Also I sat in the back with Beck a few times & it was nice to have the features in the second row as well. This Highlander really is the perfect family car with air vents for the 2nd & 3rd rows & I love that it gets 20 city mpg / 26 hwy mpg.
I shared a blog post all about Washington DC & what we did while we are in the city here. The thing I love about the East coast is that everything is so close together & you can see so much!
Thanks to Toyota for partnering with us on the post. All opinions are my own.
