I am so excited about this post! I shared on my Instagram stories that we were headed to somewhere fun and that it was a National Park. I said that I had never been & nobody in my family had been either. Only one person guessed it right- Great Basin National Park! This park is so undiscovered & beautiful! For all my Utah locals it took us less than 4 hours to get there- perfect for a weekend getaway. Eric & I are already planning our next trip back. I want to go in the fall to gather pine nuts & see the pretty changing colors of the leaves.

We checked the weather before we left & it was supposed to be warm. Well the day we left it changed to rain & then we woke up the first morning of our stay & it was snowing! Crazy spring weather! So sadly they closed the upper drive road while we were there but the park was still amazing & a fun adventure!

Great Basin is in Nevada but really close to the Utah border. Great Basin is known for Lehman Caves! This cave was big & so impressive. Beck wasn’t the biggest fan & just wanted to go outside & play in the snow. But if you are headed to Great Basin you have to go to Lehman Caves! Make a reservation online before you go because they sell out- you don’t need to pay any processing fees either to book online.

I am so excited to share with you where we stayed for this vacation. Hidden Canyon Retreat is a slice of heaven on Earth! I loved unplugging & being tucked away in a beautiful canyon. Great Basin is very remote so bring food with you & it is perfect because Hidden Canyon Retreat has a kitchen in your room that makes it so easy. It is also good that Hidden Canyon sells some food & drinks since there isn’t a grocery store close. Part of the beauty of Great Basin is being away from all the hustle & traffic etc. They say that half the park is after dark & the stars really are out of this world! Great Basin is ranked for being one of the best places in the world to see the stars because of the low light pollution. When we were staying at Hidden Canyon Retreat one of the nights we sat in the hot tub & just soaked in the stars. Eric even downloaded an app so that we could see the planets & satellites- even Beck was impressed!

Hidden Canyon Retreat is a family owned business that treats you like family! My favorite part was the amazing breakfast in the morning. The owner cooks you a delicious breakfast in their dining hall & she even makes your eggs exactly as you like. She is so sweet & feels like a friend. Our suite we stayed in was clean, large & had everything we needed. I loved having the dining table & a separate room for Beck to sleep in with a pack n play that they provided. I loved the style of the room & wanted to take home the headboard haha. The gym was huge & Eric & I loved playing foosball in the game room- it got competitive haha.

Definitely Beck’s favorite part of our stay was renting the side by side! If we stopped even for a second to take a picture Beck would say Drive Dad over & over haha it was so funny! The resort has awesome trails right there & it was such a blast. I definitely would recommend renting a side by side at Hidden Canyon Retreat- it was so nice to leave right from the property & head to the trails.

Of course when we tried to take our #postcardpitstop photo it was snowing like crazy & it was so foggy that you couldn’t see the mountains at all haha. I am so excited to plan another trip back to Great Basin hopefully this fall! Make a trip to Great Basin- way less busy than other National Parks & truly relaxing & beautiful.

Hudson Tailor is a new fun adventure brand that we just found & love. I love carrying the backpack & then packing the duffel bag for Beck- he loves carrying it. I love that you can add super fun patches & pins. Check them out! I also got a lot of questions about my sandals on my insta stories- here is a link to them.

Thank you to Hidden Canyon Resort for hosting us- all thoughts & opinions are my own.
