Planning a trip to Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas? Want to tap into your inner Texan and see if everything really is bigger? You do NOT want to miss these attractions in the Lone Star state this summer.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens

First, before you fall into the trap of saying Texas is absolutely nature-less, you have to check out the Arboretum. It’s not too expensive, especially considering how vast the gardens are. This could be an hour long activity or a full-day activity depending on what you make of it!

Dallas Zoo

Dates, kids, friends, whatever- everyone loves the zoo. They’re open 364 days of the year so you can pretty much pick any day of your trip and plan to stop by.

Pro Tip: they also put up Christmas lights in December that are GORGEOUS! Such a fun tradition.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

You don’t have to be a giant science nerd to nerd out at the Perot museum. Great for kids of all ages but legit for adults too! They also have camps and classes if you’re interested in some bomb school-break learning.

Dallas Museum of Art

Again, not just for nerds! (I say that with all the love in the world, I’m a nerd too). Tons of programs and if you’ve been before, don’t knock it- they are always bringing in new exhibits. A lot of really cool multicultural features as well, a definite must-visit in Dallas.

Reunion Tower

HIGHLY recommend checking out their Instagram and heading over ASAP if you’re into dreamy views. Their website calls it “the ultimate date night at 470 feet”. Restaurants are currently closed for reservations but other attractions are still available!

Deep Ellum

I’ve talked to so many people who are from Dallas and have never been to this absolute hub of arts, music, and culture. Soooo much history and so many performances that there is truly something for everyone!

Fort Worth Stockyards

Did you really visit Texas if you didn’t watch the twice-daily cattle drive at the Fort Worth stockyards? Not only is this the ultimate cowboy-and-longhorn-filled experience, its free to watch and most of the attractions are super cheap!

Texas Motor Speedway

Smack dab in the middle of Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, is this dreamland for NASCAR enthusiasts and newbies alike on your trip. Check out their website for upcoming events!

Airfield Falls Conservation Park

Super, gorgeous nature trails for adventurists at all levels (its Texas, you can’t really gain much elevation on a hike). Bonus: its home to monarch butterflies during their migration.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame

If your little cowboys/cowgirls are hungry for more after the Stockyards, stop by the National Cowgirl Museum! They just recently lowered their prices and even have a bucking bronco ride if you’re brave enough..

DFW Adventure Park

Paintball, airsoft, laser tag, team building activities, need I say more? Super fun place for older kids, teenagers, or even a group of adults! Bonus: they have a zombie hunt around Halloween time if you want to test your post-apocalyptic skills.

 Grapevine Mills

Coolest. Mall. Ever. I thought I was in an amusement park. Not only is there amazing shopping for all ages, Grapevine Mills also boasts an aquarium, movie theatre, escape rooms, and Legoland. (Full confession: you may spend more than you’re willing to admit at the $1 beauty store).

Six Flags Over Texas

The largest, most thrilling theme park in DFW, filled with over 45 exciting rides, shows, & attractions. Depending on the season, you snag day-passes for as low as 30 bucks. Must do if you’re visiting with adrenaline-junkies.

AT&T Stadium

Second to last, support the Cowboys like a true Dallas-native by getting tickets for a game. Formerly known as the Cowboys stadium, this is the poster child for good, ol’ fashion Texan football.

Ennis Bluebonnets Trail

Last but probably my fav, could you get anymore Texan than a bluebonnet garden? Highly recommend downloading the Ennis Y’all app to help you navigate your dreamy park trip. Bring your cameras, cute clothes, and Texas pride.

Convinced yet? Even if you weren’t born Texan, get there as soon as you can. It’s not too late to make the Lone Star state your summer road trip destination!
