I have been meaning to write a life update here but things have been so busy! We moved into our first home last month & ever since it has been go go go! Eric & I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago so we decided we needed a little weekend getaway to celebrate.
I wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been & we decided on Seattle! Oh my we had a blast! It is a city that needs to be on your bucket list. I loved the little more laid back big city feels. And not to mention it is BEAUTIFUL! I am sharing some of our favorite things we did!
Fremont Troll- a fun guy under a city bridge. Worth a stop for a photo op!
Space Needle! I actually was so impressed and loved the Space Needle! The view was amazing since there were mountains, ocean, the bay etc. It was a little expensive but we had a City Pass so I highly recommend that. They did a revamp to the Space Needle a few years ago & there are glass floors & it rotates slightly. It was amazing! Do it even though it is touristy!
Gas Works & Kerry Parks. Kerry Park has an amazing view of the skyline with the space needle. Gas Works Park was an old gas… so there is a really cool playground and old gas plant things that are fun to walk around. You can also see a pretty view of the city & Lake Union with the Sleepless in Seat
Of course Pike’s Market is fun! Our favorite place we ate was by Pike’s on Post Alley- Pike Place Chowder! And while you are on Post Alley of course go to gum wall even though it is so gross & I stepped in a ton of wads.
We visited the Ballard neighborhood twice because it was so cute! They have a good big Farmer’s Market there on Sundays & just some of the cutest shops & restaurants.
Explore the Capitol Hill area & go to Salt & Straw while you are there & take a photo on the rainbow crosswalks they have.
I vote you skip the aquarium and harbor cruise. We did this because we had a City Pass but definitely could have down without them both. Next time I want to go take a ferry to Bainbridge island we ran out of time to do that.
Our favorite place was the Chihuly Garden & Glass! I truly left feeling SO inspired! I loved it especially because Eric & I studied him in college humanities in a class together! But wow it was so incredible & it is on the City Pass too!
Now the most important part of our trip is where we stayed! I know our weekend was so amazing because of where we stayed! The Inn at El Gaucho is right in downtown & walking distance to all the major attractions such as Pike’s, The Space Needle, Chihuly etc. I loved that there was a fun theater and restaurant downstairs. The inn just barely got remodeled so everything is new & fresh! I have never stayed somewhere where the staff has been so kind. They genuinely cared about our trip & gave great recommendations of where to go. It was so fun to have a complimentary Happy Hour & cookies in the lobby daily. Our room had the most beautiful view of the bay. I loved waking up & looking out at the view.
The Inn at El Gaucho has large spacious rooms. The rooms are either 350 or 400 sq feet! It truly is the perfect staycation place as well with the theater downstairs & all the El Gaucho restaurants & their packages they have! This inn is also full of history & no wonder it is highly rated on every review site I have seen! I may have called this post Sleepless in Seattle but we slept soo good & loved everything about The Inn at El Gaucho!
Here are some more amazing photos of the rooms at The Inn at El Gaucho! I cannot recommend it enough & would stay there again & again!
Thanks to Inn at El Gaucho for hosting us! All opinions are my own.
